I'm heading off to college next semester, and I'm buying a new notebook. What are some reliable brands that you would suggest? I'm kind of on the Asus bandwagon right now, but i don't really know all that much. If there are any specific models you would recommend, feel free. I know MWC hasn't come around, so things could change between now and July-ish when I buy mine, but any recommendation is welcome. Keep in mind my budget is around $1000.

On another note, I know my stuff about Android and smartphones in general, but my knowledge of computer is really lacking. All these processor models, hyperthreading, graphics cards, video cards, integrated/dedicated, etc. It's all over my head at the moment. If there are any good sites to help me on that front, those are welcome too.

Thanks guys.

Got rid my last notebook a couple of months ago. I follow kmobs of Team Douche on twitter who is going to Medical School at UT, Austin. He has been talking about the HP Envy, I know it's HP but it's supposed to be pretty good. In fact several of the Team Douche members have mentioned it.

Without a doubt, Alienware M11X.
