Hi this is my first post I would just like to say hi to everyone.
Today I had my G1 unlocked to work on AT&T and the unlock code worked fine, but once I inserted the SIM and such I obviously cant get a 3G signal because of the incompatible frequencies but the EDGE signal is not working.
I went into the settings and tried searching for preferred networks and power cycled the phone and what not. Im really out of ideas and I can live without 3G but I need EDGE to work.
Please help

A thread around here somewhere (I'm lazy sorry :() had some people talking about how they called Tmobile CS and requested unlock codes already.

If you have been a T-Mobile customer in good standing for over 90 days (3 service cycles), then you can request an unlock code for your phone. You can ask for 1 code per line every so often (forgot the actual time frame).
I've done this on almost every phone I purchase, even new ones that were just released. If the phone is an older model, the unlock is usually completed in a few days. If it's a new model, it may take a little longer because (Supposedly?) the manufacturer has to be contacted to release the code.
I'm just reporting on my previous experiences. I have no clue how the actual code is obtained by T-Mo, but I like to believe I wasn't lied to =P LOL
