It is a tempered and laminated composite, laminated so it can make use of the capacitive screen. That's why it has that plastic feel to it. But it is glass hence pretty scratch resistant.

Found this topic and it interests me bcz I do indeed have a small scratch in the lower left corner of my screen, just above and to the left of the menu key, and I'm trying to decide how/if to treat it. The scratch treatments I've seen (like Displex) have mentioned they are for plastic screens... so would it work on the G1 or not? Either way, anybody have any recommendations for how to treat a small scratch, one that's maybe 1/8"?

Thanks

From the pictures I've seen when people have shattered their screens I'd say it is safe to assume it is glass.

do not try to fix a small scratch, its not worth the risk, with glass the thinner it is the harder the surface is and easier to crack, i work in the glass industry (flat glass fabrication/distribution )

we wont attempt to polish out a scratch on anything thinner than 5mm glass as if you heat it up too much it will crack

to do it you need a buffing wheel and cerium oxide+water
