Im about to upgrade to a new phone and I am stuck between a HTC Mozart, HTC Wildfire and a Nokia N8. I've read a few different reviews on each of the phones and I am tempted to get the HTC, however on many of the reviews I have heard that the android app store - (I don't know the proper name!) is not very good, that the free app's are rubbish, and there is not a lot of choice, the majority of apps have to be paid for and are expensive, (e.g angry birds £3.00?) I'm ust wondering how much of this is true, and any other advice etc, as I don't want to make the wrong choice?

I have only paid for one app, SwiftKey. All the other apps I have are free, including: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Anything Google, ESPN Scorecenter, Weather.com, Facebook, mint.com, Version FiOS, Pandora, last.fm, etc etc...
No idea where you're hearing things from, but a lot of stuff is free.

I'm sure it's someone who hasn't updated their Facebook app from the market recently. Facebook comes standard on a lot of phones, and to update you have to manually download it from the market (all future updates will notify you after that).
It still lacks some polish, but it's been steadily improving. It use to be horrible, but it's much improved and very usable.
