Isn't the G1 supposed to correct mispelled words?

I have the feature on, but it's never corrected anything, even obvioiusly mispelled words.

Why isn't it correcting me!?!?!?? :p

As of right now there is no XT9 Smart Input on the G1. That is the main APP or Firmware update we are all waiting for. :)

G1, teech me how to spel...

Just kidding. Obviously mine does not auto correct anything either. It does sometimes capitalize the first letter, and sometimes I can double tap the spacebar to get a period. But not always.

Mine does work, sometimes, but I just want to turn it off. Or at least edit.

I've found that it adds apostrophes. You type "youre" and it'll change it to "you're."

Does anyone know how to edit the auto-replace so we can have custom word replacement (i.e., you to u)
