Alright, So my G1 is Defective and I pre-ordered it in September so now they have to send me a new one. I was told by a rep that now the phones in backorder so there's a possibility that I won't be able to receive my phone until November 10th (WTF). I'm just really at a lost for words. You mean to tell me that you're going to put a device out there on the market and expect 1.5 million of them to all work pefectly fine ?. I asked the Rep, since this can be a possibility why isn't there backup phones for those who pre-ordered before october 5th just in case their phones are defective. This is really not fair and I hate to sound like a baby about it but come on this was totally out of my hands and now I might have to wait for this bull.. Unbelievable...

They usually send their replacement phones very quickly, don't be surprised if it gets delivered in a few days.

They have bunch laying around at Tmo stores.
You'll get one sooner than later.
1.5 million sold is an unreall number: http://www.telegeography.com/cu/article.php?article_id=25467

Instead of having them send you one, just ship yours back, and tell them to mark your account and you can go into the store and pick up a replacement. I am doing the same thing.
goodluck, let me know if it works.

I would tell them you're either going to a Tmobile store to pick up a replacement or you're going to an Apple Store/ATT store to pick up your new IPhone, after which you will cancel your TMo account. They hate losing paying custormes, that will probably work.
and good luck in any case . . . a dead phone in the first week is BS.
What, may I ask, was the problem?

Exactly! Its more like 60-70,000. I dont know where people get their half *ss facts from. There would be a lot of people getting flamed on other sites.

I was on the browser and the phone just randomly shutdown on me. I tried turning it back on (mind you the phone is on full battery) wouldn't work, I tried plugging it up with my charger (no luck). I even took the battery out for like an hour (still no got damn luck lol). Now I'm right back at Point A with those who pre ordered after Oct 5th. lol funny but messed up.

I just went to a car toys and bought a g1 this morning, so it may be that the one store is back ordered.

i went through the same situation but was able to get a replacement from a retail store. but it was pretty difficult and time consuming, and i believe i was lucky to even get an exchange. i posted my experience on another forum already, but lemme paste it here:
part 1: the g1 came with a dead pixel so i call customer care. they say im under buyers remorse and that i would have to send back my phone and they would send me a new one. when i asked when that would be, they said when they have them in stock. so i said screw that, i waited long enough for it to arrive. im not waiting another month or so for a replacement. also, if it does take longer than 30 days to get back in stock they would end up sending me a refurb, and i wasnt having any of that. so then i got transferred to g1 tech service and they escalated me many times until finally a manager said to go into a retail store and swap it, and they would notate my account so the store would know what to do.
part 2: so i call all the stores in the area checking stock and found one, but the manager was being an *** and wouldnt let me do it. then i had to re-call customer service (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1449098#) and ask them to call him and let them know whats going on/***** at him for refusing to help. finally after many hours the retail manager told me he would do it, but if some ppl came in before i did and wanted them he would sell it to them. so i had to take off work and rush over before ppl found the only store in LA that still had stock. so i get there and he tries to tell me he wouldnt do it because i didnt have a receipt, when in actuality i did not even get a receipt in the box. finally after calling a csr AGAIN, he finally gave in and swapped it for me, very reluctantly tho.
this is extremely YMMV because i heard retail and online/phone are completely different factions and they do not readily exchange phones with one another, and they usually no matter what will not exchange it. but a little coaxing will do the trick sometimes. and since ive been with tmo since it was voicestream they kinda gave me a break. imo.
anyways good luck for anyone who will be trying to go this route to get a replacement.

Uhh, try restoring it. Everything about this phone is still new to me so i can only compare it to other phones i had, but restoring my old iphone would fix a lot of the problems and im sure t-mobile will tell you to do the same thing.
