I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place for this please move the thread admins if possible please if it is in the wrong place.

My question is does the G1 have a speed dial set up or a way to setup speed dial or perhaps a voice command to dial someone. I see the voice dialer but I can't seem to make it call with any sort of accuracy. I just bought a Blueant V1 and would like to set it up.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

anycut works well. I used it and then arranged the icons into a folder.

So there's no speed dial it self with the phone? Just using the any cut? It's not that I mind going through the phone to make a call just trying to setup my V1 with the speed dial settings.

It doesn't do anything for me when I press the number I want to use. Just the normal dialer right?

Thanks all for the replies

Pressing and holding the button doesn't do anything. But why do you need a speed dialer when you have a phone book and a voice dialer that work perfect.

It's because of the way you have to setup this bluetooth headpiece with voice commands like "Call voicemail" will call speed dial one which is their default for voicemail and "call home" will call speed dial two and "call office" will call 4 and then you get into some other features it's a neat bluetooth piece. There's a way to set it up whether your voice has the feature or not so I guess I'll just do it that way.

I have a Bluant V1 as well and know what you mean.

Currently there is some form of speed-dial in the phone. I know because when I tell the phone to speed dial a number, it dials some random number from my contacts list.

Don't know if this is coming from the sim card or the phone. Still trying to find a pattern to it.

Sadly, it's starting to look like us V1 users could be SOL.

Okay, well I got it working! (Sort of)

If you press 2# (or any number then pound), it will speed dial a number off your sim card. I haven't found what the exact correlation is, but it seems to have something to do with the "index" number of the sim entry (but not exactly). Since there is no apparent way to edit the sim entries from the G1, I took my sim and put it in my HTC Universal, and used the "sim manager" to replace some of the entries.

Doesn't the favorites section replace the speed dial functionality? Just long press on a contact to add it to favorites and then you can select them in favorites and call them.

It seems weird how for some people voice dial works perfectly but for some it doesn't work at all. I wonder if it has to do with whether your contacts are sim contacts or gmail contacts.

For people having problems with voice dail, for a video I have seen it seems like it works perfectly dialing normal numbers, like if you tell it to dial a specific number rather than a contact.

Speed dial is safer when you're driving.

You didn't read the entire thread. Read it carefully and you'll understand why we're looking into this.

i would love to have speed dial on my phone and i dont call much and only have a few people i call all the time. its also quicker when im in one handed mode. i remember when i was using symbian on my se p1 it had a great speed dial screen. just the usual 9 spots and u add contacts to those 9 and if there's a picture, they're picture shows on in that slot. so easy and fast. hopefully cupcake will provide it but i dont remember seeing anything about it on the cupcake list.

No dialing is safe while driving.

I am looking for an answer to this as well. It is odd that this cannot be setup, as there is already a pre-configured speed dial number... the voicemail. My voicemail was already configured in speed dial number slot #1, and also has a voicemail icon under the "1".

There are a number of reasons why someone would want to utilize speed dial, but the reason why is not the question proposed here. The question is how.

It is odd that a technology implemented since the stone age of cell phones has been dropped on this phone. Bummer.

If anyone has an answer for speed dial (not anycut, favorites, or the other types of dialing on the phone), please help us out. We truly appreciate it.

For the original poster on this thread if u haven't figure it out by now to get your Blueant setup for speed dials try this

Speed Dials in the V1
This method requires that you first receive an incoming
call from the number you want to input into the
headset for later dialing.
1. Receive a call from the number you want the
headset to later dial
2. Press and Hold Vol – for 3 seconds
3. The headset will ask you which voice command
you would like to associate with the number.

Hopes this helps
And speed dials are technically setup through your favorites list i came to that conclusion by using my new blueant v1 saying home means use speed dail location two fancy that it calls the first person on my favorites list. and so on and so forth. Its kinda crummy u cant organize that fav list:p

Download the app "Speed Dial" in Social which just comes out. I love it. You can also touch a picture to dial.

I did not have time to read all posts.

There is an app called " speed dial ".(as of right now it is not on the market, i just downloaded this 3 days ago. Hopefully they are just updating the app.) You simply add shortcut, hit the speed dial app, then it will ask you for your preference: 1 touch, call log to call (2touch), and a couple more, choose then select contact. Contact will show up on a panel, click and call. This can be really useful by making an entire panel just speed dial contacts.
