OK...I've got all my address and phone number contact info stored on my very old Palm OS device.
I can export that to a few different formats. What's the best way to get all that contact info onto my new G1?

This is comeing right from the gmail website.
"We support importing contacts in the CSV file format (Comma Separated Values). For best results, please use a CSV file produced by Outlook, Outlook Express, Yahoo!, or Hotmail. "
Note the part that says "for best results" but it doesnt mean some other ways wont work.

Ugg....trying that was a disaster.
Exported from Palm Desktop to CSV format. Did not go well. Lots of fields in Palm Addressbook that aren't present in Gmail contacts.
I can edit it with Excel and fix some things, but that seems to just put everything in the "Notes" field of Gmail contacts. I can probably eventually get everything converted in this manner, but it would take as long (possibly longer) than just re-typing everything by hand.
Extremely frustrating!
Any other suggestions?

I synced my Curve to the BB Desktop Manager. Imported those items into Outlook then manually typed everything into GMail.
Try syncing with Outlook and have Outlook create the CSV file. I would think Microsoft's premier office suite would use a very standardized CSV format. Aside from that... have fun typing =\ I had to manually input about 100 contacts w/ multiple numbers and e-mail addresses (never stored anything as such on GMail before). Plus GMail will probably be expecting the CSV to come from Outlook in most cases.
