My droid sounds mute by its self

My droid will stop makings sounds for text and phone calls for some reason. I have checked the settings and they are set correctly. I have to remove the battery to correct it, but it comes back some time later. Any help?

first, you can reset your phone instead of taking the battery away,
if it is still mute, maybe the problem exits in the speaker...
