I won't be complaining about anything! I've enjoyed all my Android phones. G1, HTC Hero, MyTouch, Nexus, and soon to be G2!

Notxel is right you rarely make a decent post, most of the time your just instigating and being negative. I personally work nearly 50 hrs a week and have 12 credit hrs in college as well as run a few sites and spend time with my daughter and family. As far as post count goes, it's called helping people. Maybe you should try that for a change instead of being a buzz kill all the time. k:cool:

If that lady delivers my package, well then... I`ll be broke in no time , and constantly in the shower everytime she rings my bell - doorbell I mean.

What pricing did you guys get? I'm 22 months into my contract and I couldn't
order online, My wife's line is up so it let me order but I didn't, just wanted to
check pricing. It came out to about 310.00 total. 249.99 for the phone, 5.00
shipping, 18.00 upgrade fee and 38.00 tax.
I called CS asking about my line, she said the site was still messed up so she
did it for me, 249.99 and 21.00 tax. no shipping or upgrade fee, saved
around 40 bucks
Also, thought I had to pay right then but she said it would appear on Nov. or
Dec. bill. Nice!

I think I've managed to convince my wife that it is a "need" rather than a "want". The Vibrant has turned out to be such a disappointment to me. I shouldn't have to jump through a bunch of flashing, configuring, or just flat out waiting-for-an-arbitrary-fix-at-some-undetermined-time fix, that doesn't even promise to completely fix what is lacking, just to enjoy a phone as much as I enjoyed my G1 on day 2. Or my Nexus on day 1.
I wonder if I can come up on any of those discounts if I go to the store and pre-order. Hmmm...

I agree withcha Ewdi!
I'm keeping my N1 and will stay up to date and Cyan's roms for it.
I know Cyan plans to cook up some CM love for the G2 and will be jumping on that!! I can't wait!! :D
Good plan, I might do that! but the thing abt N1 is custom rom releases is much quicker than other devices. That's why it's hard to switch too :p

Well, I'm kind of stuck. When I picked up the Vibrant (which I wish I hadn't), my wife immediately upgraded from her G1 to my her Nexus One. So once I realized I the Vibrant wasn't all I though tit would be, she had already fallen in love with Nex, and was letting it sleep on my side of the bed.
So it's either:
Craiglist another Nexus for myself.
Stick with the beautiful, flawed Vibrant. (Oh look, Avatar!)
Or make that move to at least see what G2 has to offer.
If G2 is anything like G1 and Nexus were, in terms of development, then I don't think I'll regret my decision at all. Cyan & co. found a way to keep even the G1 relevant, with continued support... even up to Froyo!

The G2 is not a superphone that's gonna blow everything away, but is very capable. It's built and spec'd as it is for good reasons.
MHz isn't a proper way to compare different processors. People should keep in mind the G2 runs on the newer Qualcomm 800MHz MSM7230 Snapdragon that is 45nm instead of 65nm so should have better battery life. It also has the new Adreno 205 graphics which is much more powerful than the graphics on previous Snapdragon devices. I was not impressed with the 1GHz Snapdragons that have been everywhere. With the improved graphics, the G2 @800MHz should be equal to or better than earlier Snapdragons @1- 1.2GHz and have better battery life.
I pre-ordered one for my wife a couple of days ago. She's bright but is definitely tech-challenged and it will be her first smartphone. Because of that I wanted to give her something easy to use and that she could get help with if I'm not around. Nokia stores and support are non-existent in the US. No one she knows but me knows squat about Maemo/MeeGo or Linux. But T-Mobile stores are everywhere and several other family members are familiar with Android.
Plus, the G2 runs vanilla Froyo 2.2 in a nice, reasonable-size package with all the features she'll ever need. Real keyboard, HSPA+ go-fast speed, etc...should be a nice unit for her purposes.
As for me, no way a G2 could replace my overclocked Nokia N900. Nothing can yet. And I could never go Android again. I'll get her onto a MeeGo phone sometime down the line...

Haha Crash what do you have against Android?? This G2 looks good I kind of wondered if I shouldve waited to get it instead of my Vibrant but after seeing the G@ in action I'm pretty content with my Samsung device.

lol thanks grant. but I already saw that. I mentioned that a post or 2 above.. I see your comments in that video also. haha but thanks for trying.
and what you mean a downgrade just for a keyboard. It's a better phone than the N1 all around, other than it's fatter. the 800 Mhz is more efficient, the GPU is almost as powerful as the Galaxy S. and it's built for HPSA+. I'd call it a side grade rather than up or down. either way it looks pretty sweet. and CM will fully support it also.
I might buy one outright and make payments if I can. Play with it for a while and give it to my mother and sell her G1. as I'm going to use my N1 for daily driver til a 4.3" that I want comes out

I want a 4.3" too. My quadrant and linpack scores smoke the G2. I'm sticking with the N1 until like you say a 4.3" with killer specs.

Received my G2 just now. I discovered a big problem:
while sending myself a picture that i'd like to use as my wallpaper, i inadvertently discovered that the jpg attachment cannot be previewed NOR can it be downloaded!
all it would do is to say "Fetching Attachment" and have the circular thing go round and round, with the words "Please wait" next to it.
i have no idea how this could be and i don't know how to fix it!
may i ask for help please?

I haven't fully tested the battery life yet, but it's on par with the Nexus and me personally can get a full day's use out of it. Standby time is ridiculous though, G2 stayed at 100% for over 6 hours while I slept.

My wife got her G2 yesterday and it does not have 4G memory. Still has plenty for her though.
Overall, I'm still not knocked out by Froyo 2.2 but it has come a long way from 1.0. And T-Mobile had the good sense not to include anything like Sense or MotoBlur or otherwise muck up things. Plain vanilla to do what you want with. But the G2 hardware has come a long way since the G1. A Really Nice unit. The metal body gives it a satisfying, solid feel and it has a pretty good keyboard too. Don't care for the slider mechanism much, but again, much better than the G1.
Not a revolutionary phone, but very solid and capable. Like I expected, it should be fine for her purposes. She's happy with it and that's the thing.

Well that certainly is some sexy stand by time.:D
Have you encountered the insufficient memory problem or hinge problem as well?
And I asked because I wanted to get a phone that could run on T-Mob's amazin 3G network but have the battery life to keep me more than satisfied in one day.

No the G1 has nowhere close to that amount of Flash Memory.
It capped off at 256 MBs.
Some of that was probably missing due to system data on the phone.
I just got mine today - the thing is a beast. Fast as hell. The keyboard is fairly cramped, but I think I'll get used to it. Now I just want to perm root it, OC it and see how badly I can break it in a week.

Glad to hear this Ward! I just love mines, (had it since last Friday) I so need permanant root, I still have my N1 but I'm hooked on the Phone already! :D

I tossed my G1 because it was so cracked and just messed up. Recycled of course. I can confirm that they have HSPA+ in San Francisco. I looked at the phone and saw the H. The rep said "Yeah, we have it - we just didn't promote it until it was completed." I haven't had a chance to speed test or do anything crazy with it yet. Going to let it charge until I leave work at 5:30P PST. But I gotta say, this phone feels solid as hell.

Rats! I checked T-Mo's coverage map, and I'm in an "edge" area. I still get almost 700kbps here. But I really want to join the HSPA club. I'm in Dallas, so I though tit would be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, though, when I say "I'm in Dallas", it actually more like someone in Culver City or Glendale saying "I'm in L.A.". I'm in the metroplex; just not the "main" city.

I went to the tmo store and played with a g2 and I think I might have to switch back to them for this :/ the hinge only seemed loose if I held it by the half with the screen and dangled it upside down and the keyboard is nice but takes getting used to because I kept hitting the www/.com button. It was very snappy though. Don't know whether to go with this or the epic now

Really nice glad to see my Vibrant as good or even better then the competition even though its not even on 2.2 yet. So its clear that the Hummingbird processor is still king of graphics but I noticed in the article you said the G2 had one of the fastest processors you've seen. When it comes to pure speed would you put the G2 over the Vibrant??

Yes, it noticeably faster than any phone I've ever used. But that may be because of Froyo. It'll be a better comparison when the Vibrant get 2.2.

It's actually S-TFT LCD. I wonder if T-Mobile misreported how much space is on these phones - or if it's taking from the stock SD Card. I took mine out and put my Class 6 8GB in there. I only have 1.2GB internal storage on this.

That's one of the problems being reported, some have more storage and some don't.

charger right now, I know there have been issues with some phones
and I want to know what to look out for when I start putting her
though her paces:).
Thanks!!

The only quarrel I have with the phone is that I have fairly long fingers; so when typing the screen tends to lean forward because I'm resting my fingers on the back of it. I can't find the > or the < key, and re-learning how to type on it has been getting on my nerves a bit.
I went to T-Mobile today and talked to some cool ass reps that knew about cyanogen and what not. The one dude was benchmarking phones. Anyway, they hadn't heard anything from T-Mobile about the low storage thing. There were no internal notifications or memo's about it either. So I'm guessing HTC may have misreported the initial claim of 4GB internal. Or it could just be the one's that got it before release date got re-branded Desire-Z's.
EDiT: Oh, and I'm getting the 1.5 SMS notification Icon as well as the 2.2 SMS Notification Icon when receiving texts.

Word. That'd be nice eh? I mean it's no huge deal, I have email and what not that I use so it's whatever. I just used to hate it when people on Sprint or w/e would send me slideshows. Like, "Look Girl, that's nice - but I need a bigger picture." Ya know?

What the hell... does any of this have to do with MMS being shown as a slideshow? Pay attention. Another less-than-helpful post by my main man Wonsanim.

Read the name of the Post:cool:
The first one is: T-Mobile G2 Auto-Reinstalls Stock Android After a Jailbreak I guess the common thread is Stock Android and T-Mobile G2
The second one is: Is the T-Mobile G2 More Locked Down Than Droid X? T-Mobile G2 is a common thread there.
Uh... what do alleged rootkits have to do with MMS showing up as a Slideshow in the text app? And in reference to DjUnio saying "Save it" that's close? I guess? What?
Son foreal, this is "Official Everything T-Mobile G2 thread!" When you reply in regards to something someone said to me that has nothing to do with a 'rootkit' with a link about a 'rootkit;' it's called "unrelated" and "unhelpful." Plus, check the main page - there is already a thread on that.
But I'm sure this T-Mobile rootkit is causing my MMS received and sent to show up as slideshows. Once I remove the rootkit, my MMS will work properly! :D
