So I have been using the usb charge exclusively for the phone since I got it but this afternoon I decided to use the wall charger, and lo behold its not the right one, doesn't fit, won't work whatever.
T-mobile said they'd handle it, thats great, but I'm going out of town tomorrow for a week without a computer (no usb)

My local store doesn't have any of the regular chargers, but what I'm wondering is would something like either of these products work:

or
http://www.bixnet.com/usbbatterybox.html

If they would I would much rather have that then two seperate cables, any info anyone?

Are you sure? The wall charger that comes with the phone has the regular mini-usb connector. This connector fits on the phone and charges it.
The other cable and the headphones uses a proprietary htc connector.

I'm not sure I follow, are you saying they aren't supposed to fit the same jack on the phone?

alright what I meant was that we have two connectors

one to the computer & one to the wall

the computer one when plugged into the phone ends with a usb port
the other when plugged into the phone ends in an ac plug

the end of the ac plug cord that goes into my phone does not fit my phone. and I don't have a way to get a plug before I go out of town, but if I could combine the computer plug and my wall plug with something like the above options I would prefer it. can I do this would there be any issues?

i really would like to know if one or both or any products similar to the above link would work with the phones provided usb charger without damaging the phone?

a regular blackberry charger or do they have the usb to ac plugs?
I've never looked at a blackberry close enough to know.

I would like to have one less set of cables to carry around if possible which is why I'm leaning towards something like above.

seriously, what makes you think that the ac adapter that was in the box doesnt work? Im sure you are trying to insert it wrong or something. HTC would not screw up that bad. The AC Adapter plug is no different than the USB plug you say you have been using.

Also, i would recommend not purchasing just a usb power adapter and such, first off because, they most likely have the wrong amperage. The G1 charges at 5volts and 1 amp. Those cheap little chargers you can buy above are most likely 5v 0.5 amp, which technically CAN take twice as long to charge your phone. Not to mention that if that adapter blows out your phone, you are well, screwed, and HTC/Tmo might not cover you via their warranty because it was a third party product that did the damage.

You are so much safer just to use the AC Adapter that came with your phone dude.

the second part of that is exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you.

but trust me they did screw up that bad. one the right one looks like maybe the state of montana the one they sent looks like a top hat. Thats all I got for analogies.

Howdy,

both are correct!
the one on the left is the charger. the right are the USB and headphone version.
insert the wider side up. it will fit.
Good luck

well I feel like an idiot, hmmm must be to many years of being told the circle peg goes in the circle slot and the square peg in the square slot.

thanks, honestly I still would like to minimize the cords though ipods had something that did that, and I loved it. maybe some company looking to make a quick 25 bucks off of me will make one.

so is there any reason they don't match?
