View Full Version : Need a little stand for my desk

Now that I have my G1, I can start to see what accessories I really need. One of the first things I'm gonna want is a little stand to hold the unit at about a 60 degree angle on my desk so that I can see it without picking it up. My preference would be to have it sit open in landscape mode but if the stand could also permit closed portrait mode so much the better! I would want the stand to be heavy enough to allow me to peck out a few characters without having to hold it.

Does anything like this exist?

TIA,

Reg

Isn't there an add for one inside the box??? I swear I saw it on one of those cards.

We need something that will charge it and have little speakers on it in case you want to listen to music while you're working. Something like the I-Home, but a much smaller version for your desktop. Something like this probably wouldn't come in landscape mode, but for me portrait would be just fine!

Isn't there an add for one inside the box??? I swear I saw it on one of those cards.Wow! Someone looked at some of the paperwork in the box! (Your secret's safe with me! :p) I'm looking for landscape with portrait as an added bonus. It doesn't look like that one can be plugged in, either. I should have mentioned that as a requirement.

make one out of woodWhat's wood?

Seriously, thanks for the ideas, but it MUST be landscape and I'm not willing to build one for myself. I'm sure someone in China has seen this thread and has started manufacturing one as we speak. I'll sit tight to see what turns up.

Thoughts?

you know actually a little thinking outside of the box might get where you wanted i did a google image search on business card holders and this little number was one of the first things to pop up.

I only post it because it has an uncanny resemblence to a little green guy we're all becoming so familiar with

but I imagine that something like this perhaps a little less bright, might be what your thinking of?

Here's a cool little stand, I don't have one but my friend loves his: http://www.gphonestands.com (http://www.gphonestands.com/). It seems nice for just propping up your phone under your computer monitor at a good angle.

Wow, that's quite a bump there, a thread 3 months dead.
I have the T-Mobile case from the stores, the clear one with the kickstand on it, works great.

My guess is that this would work

http://www.bargaincell.com/product_11002_1207.html

I have this exact base for my Tmobile Dash and it works good, obviously not mind blowing sound quality...but if you just need something for sound...why not.

The gphonestand.com one is an interesting design for being so simple. I did a little backwards checking and found out who sells it. Pity their website for the product doesn't have contact information or anything. It doesn't make me want to trust them.

Here's the company:

Ok...So it works

I could not fit my G1 in the cradle because its made for a Dash which is quite a bit slimmer. I used an adapter that came with my Dash to plug into the cradle...then plugged my G1 into that and it plays back through the cradle just fine.

The one in the link that I gave is for an MDA which may be even a bit thicker than the G1 (I traded my MDA for a LX so I cannot compare) but I have no doubt that it would work...for both sound and syncing.

Hey, wanted you to know I was browsing through and this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for (without knowing it existed!) Just wanted something simple to hold my phone at an angle, don't necessarily need it charged or synced, etc. I ordered one of these, can't wait to see how it works out.

Thanks!
