Some of you out there may run into this issue.

I got up this morning and found out that my Tmo wing could not access the EDGE data network. I would get prompted for a user/password/domain. Called tmo and found a work around.

if you're connected to :
wap.voicestream.com

try connecting to:
internet2.voicestream.com or
internet3.voicestream.com

The tech also told me that, you should see some minor performance enhancements. Whether the servers have a better caching system, hardware is better or it allows you to use the improved 3G/EDGE, i'm not sure but it should be better.

I've been having the same issue with my HTC Touch. I just tried the fix you posted, but now I get a message saying "The remote pary has ended the connection" right when I connect to the internet. Anyone else get this too?

Had this problem in Vegas this morning...

HTC Touch, using hotmail push...
the continual attempts to connect to the newtork was making the phone
unusable with all the alerts...

finally got it into airplane mode, and changed the APN

Called T-MO support got to their PDA support group, who promptly said there were NO ISSUES with the APN wap.voicestream.com

apparently there was...

My G1 is due for delivery today, can't wait to try the 3G
