I'm interested in trading my iPhone for an HTC Magic. Has anyone on here made this same switch?

How do the two phones compare for:

voice call quality
signal strength/reliability
bluetooth
battery life
etc.

Can anyone provide any guidance or opinions on this topic?

I've had the iphone since it was released, three of them to be exact. I was a little nervous about switching to the mt3g but after a few days I was ready to give up my iphone for good and gave it to my son. I was really in love with my iphone and now after two months I can say that I haven't missed it one bit.

I did have the iphone unlocked on t-mobile so I didn't have 3g.
Tmobile has great coverage in my area as well so I never really experienced a dropped call on the iphone or the mt3g. The batter lasted all day on both of the phones for me as well (I talk around 3000-4000 minutes a month.) The iphone would get really slow on me after installing 3-4 pages of apps and I would have to restore it to get the speed back. The mt3g seems to be faster at alot of things as well. For instance I timed several things when I got my mt3g, first I restored my iphone so as to be running on a fresh install. I then installed a program I use called VLC remote on both phones and timed how long it took before I could start using the program. The iphone took 13 seconds and the mt3g took 5 seconds. I also have a 1920x1080 screen resolution on my computer and the VNC client software for the iphone would take longer to load and then crash because it didn't have a enough memory. The mt3g VNC server runs without a single problem and it was free compaired to the $5 I paid for the iphone app. You can also carry a spare battery with the mt3g which is nice because I travel often and with the iphone I had to buy and external battery pack which was kind of bulky. The speaker phone is much louder on the mt3g although people complain about having trouble understanding me, I'm not sure if the iphone was any better because the volume was so low I could never use it. The touch screen was definitely better on the iphone, and the keyboard isn't that great on the mt3g. I found that in order to make the keyboard response decent I had to root the phone and now it's much better although not as good as the iphone. The music interface was better on the iphone however I happy to give that up if it means I get away from itunes. The mt3g is just so much more free than the iphone. If you want to put music on it just copy it over. If you want to put ringtones on it just copy them over. You can install programs from anywhere you want without apple's say in things.
