I'm goign to hold out for now. I've got my 4GB card that I've used with the HTC Touch for the lpast year or so. I've got a whole season of The Office loaded on it and about a gig of music. Once I get the G1 I'm planning on loading up the rest with pictures of my latest vacations since the G1's screen is goign to be nice for showing them off.

I might upgrade to a 16GB card once the prices hit $50.

What does class mean? Like whats the difference between 1 and 4? I thought 8gb is 8gb right?

Class refers to speed of transmission. 8gb of memory with a data transfer rate of:

Class 2 - 2 mb per second
Class 4 - 4 mb per second
Class 6 - 6 mb per second

Class 4 is sufficient for the G1. I heard someone mention that with a Class 2 card, they had some 'stuttering' with their programs. This was with a different phone, of course.

Personally, a few seconds of data transfer isn't worth the $20 extra. And the response speed is the same.

i'll just wait until the G1 comes out... go to best buy, scan a micro SD card using ShopSavvy, and let it tell me where to get the best price.

Adata is like Kingston. Cheap price, but still good stuff from a reputable company. Unlike Sandisk which are mostly near MSRP price.

depends on what you're dong cricketman... if you plan to have a navigation suite installed on your sd card if possible in the future, regional maps of the us range anywhere in the 500 - 2gb range and are accessed via the memory card...

if you get a class 2, i guarantee you'll get some software lag, and it shouldn't be blamed on the phone

Question, instead of buying a reader for the micro SD can I just connect the G1 via USB with the 8GB card and drag/drop thru Windows?

Yes you can. I don't have a problem with it with the RC19 firmware, but people have reported having problems with the newest firmware.

Im looking at 8gb cards now on Amazon. I added one by Kingston to my cart. I hoping to see if the price drops. You know how Amazon is they'll lower the price or raise it within a few days.
