Cupcake and Donut?

In my simple understanding - Cupcake is the current version, and Donut is the pending update to Android - is that right?

If so what changes / benefits will come with Donut, and when will it be released?

Finally - how do you upgrade your phone to the new version? Is there a carrier specific release ( in my case UK Orange )?

cheers all:)

Know nuthin' about Orange but there's a reference to when Donut is due on the current final page of the 'has the hero lived up to its hype?' thread.

I found androidandme.com good and easy to understand on Cupcake and Donut and the site has a good search function

The upgrade will be OTA and probably carrier specific.

AFAIK, the code names aren't actual releases. They are just branches in the android development tree. Google just raided the cupcake development branch, and rolled it into the 1.5 update.
