My Hero came with a 2GIG card ( I'm not sure what class ) - it was fine but too small.
After a bit of research, I found that the higher the class the faster the card ( ie class 6 is a faster card than class 2 etc ).
I formatted the new card in the phone.
So I copied all my old card files to my computer, then copied them over to the new card.
Put in the new 8GIG card in my phone and it mounted no problem and I had all my music and photos.
BUT -
As I can see, it seems to be a lot slower than my old card. If I go to my photo album, it will load as a preveiw grid. This used to happen pretty quickly, but on the new card, the grid squares are grey, and then start to load up with the photo images.
Any ideas why and ways to fix this?
cheers all

Are you sure you got a class 6?

It was advertised as Class 6, and has class 6 written on the card itself

Does it do that every time you go to the gallery or just the first time?

Well, since you have a new card and you're stating that you copied everything over, than it would be a little strange for it to have worse performance than your previous non-class 6 card. Let's say maybe when copying the files you deleted the thumbnail versions that existed that now have to be re-created so that your phone will load them up quickly the next time you paid your gallery a visit. Thats my guess if you ask me

I found exactly the same thing with my class 6 card. Definitely sluggish to begin with compared to the supplied card. It made me wonder whether it could be a fake card I bought.. I still have no other real reason to suspect it could be fake though as it was from a reputable supplier.
Interestingly.. after a day or two the card seemed to work very smoothly and there is hardly any load time in 'album' even with many more pics/videos in there. I wonder whether the hero writes anything to the card etc at some point to speed things up(?) All I can say is that I'm happy enough with the card now and won't be changing soon : )

The first time you put in a new card it always takes a while to load. If you ever have to reset your phone or upgrade your rom the same thing will happen.
