Hi All,
Been a while since I posted visited the forum to be honest, been a tad busy.
Let me give you a scenario, I currently have a black T-Mobile G1 that was if anyone one remembers subjected to a swim in a swimming pool. Although it still works I know its voided the warranty so I have claimed on my Insurance and been awarded enough to buy a new G1.
Now my question is should I buy another G1 or maybe punt for the Hero? I have to stay with T-Mobile as I still have a contract for 12 months.
I like the G1 but only because I have rooted it and got it working the way I like it.
What is everyone else doing sticking with the G1 or swapping to the Hero?

I like the G1 for :-
Lattitude,
Internet,
Google Sync (mail, calander, contacts)
MSN/GTalk,
Google Maps,
Facebook/Twitter
You Tube.
Widgets and Touch Screen
I dont like,
Battery Life
Not bothered about qwerty keyboard,
No Blutooth for sending receiving data,
Camera is not that good,
Video is worse and
Weight it is quite a heavy phone imho.
I plan to read up on the Hero/G2 Touch but if it crosses off a couple of the dont likes without removing the likes then it might have to be the phone for me.

G1 ! Been with it since day preorder , and am still in love with it (loving it more and more every day) .
But anyways , the g1 have the physical keyboard . That , in itself , would prevent me from going with the hero .

Your posts never make any sense, please stop making them.
The Hero isn't going to be on T-Mobile, so if staying with them is a deciding factor, stick with the G1. If you're not tied to the physical keyboard, look at the Mytouch, its basically the G1 sans keyboard but with a lot more internal memory.

The OP is in England, and TMobile UK HAS announced they are going to be getting the Hero, I do believe.
So, the OP can get the Hero, but he cannot get the myTouch, which was only released by T Mobile US.

Right, apologies. I'd personally go with Hero, the increased ram would make it worth it in my opinion. Only reason I can see to stick with a G1 is the keyboard, and I haven't really used mine in months.
A bit of further clarification on my part, the line about posts never making sense was directed at the quote, not at the OP. Should be self-evident, thought I'd point it out just in case.

I'm sticking with the G1, I'm already happy with it.
I'm sure if I was willing to dish out $500-600 for the Hero, I would probably love it. But right now I'm happy with the G1 and that's all that matters!

OK here's a good one for everybody! I am running the Superhero V2 Rom on my unlocked, and jailbroke G1. Anybody know how to get the myFaves Application on that ROM? Any help is appreciated. I'm totally confused with this. I called T-Mobile and even explained everything to them and they can't do nothing about it if I have an unsupported OS. Thanks in advance to everybody!

Thanks everyone, I think I will not replace my G1 once the insurance money comes through and instead opt for the G2 Touch (HTC Hero, TMob have renamed it for some reason). I dont really use the qwerty keyboard that much and would not miss it if it was not there.
I do like the sound of more internal memory and just hope features I heavily use like lattitude and MSN are compatible in the UK with them as they are not with the G1 and I had to root it.
I also hope the battery life is better, but to be fair it could not be worse, lol.

Right now with JacHero 2.63, the G1 feels like and works like a charm. Virtually no load time and stable as a rock. If you dont mind not having bluetooth and LED then go for it. Even the 2.63 none slow edition is hella fast with the stock 1gb memory card.
