From the G1 Pre-order FAQ

How much is the G1 data service? What is included?
T-Mobile offers two T-Mobile G1-specific data plans.
The first is an unlimited Web/data and unlimited messages plan for $35. This plan includes:

Unlimited Internet access
Unlimited e-mail
Unlimited messaging (text, picture, and IM)
T-Mobile HotSpot data access

The second option is an unlimited Web/data plan that comes with 400 messages for $25. This plan includes:

Unlimited Internet access
Unlimited e-mail (unlimited, part of Web/data)
Unlimited IM on Google Talk
400 total messages (text messages, picture messages, non-Google Talk IM)
T-Mobile HotSpot data access

Are there any national chains that offer TMobile hotspot access? They are not at Starbucks anymore, right?

All corporate owned starbucks store locations will be switching over to att wifi. There was a agreement between att and tmobile that tmobile customers will be able to use att's wifi in starbucks for a while.

Thanks for the links. I didn't know FedEx/Kinkos was a Tmobile Hotspot! Starbucks is still on the list too.

From this website: http://www.t-mobile.com/templates/genericnobrand.aspx?passet=Pro_Html_SBHotSpot

Starbucks Wi-Fi Service Media Statement
2/11/2008

“Today's announcement regarding the Starbucks Wi-Fi operations will not impact T-Mobile HotSpot customers' ability to use Wi-Fi services at Starbucks locations for years to come. In fact, the Wi-Fi network operations transition will not begin for several months. Even after the transition, T-Mobile HotSpot customers will continue to enjoy Wi-Fi access at Starbucks locations for at least the next five years under a roaming agreement between T-Mobile USA and AT&T. There will be no additional charge for T-Mobile HotSpot customers at Starbucks associated with this transition."

Good question (I'm a noob too). Do I just go to a hot spot and it Just Works? No configuration necessary (other than make sure wifi is turned on?)

From the T-Mobile knowledge base

Connecting to the Internet using Settings
NOTE: Wi-Fi must be on to detect available networks.
To connect to the Internet using Settings, perform the following steps:
1. Tap Start, and then Settings.
2. Tap the Connections tab.
3. Tap Network Cards.
4. Tap and hold the desired Wi-Fi network.
5. Tap Connect.
6. To be taken to the T-Mobile HotSpot log-in page, launch your Internet Explorer browser.
7. At the T-Mobile HotSpot log-in page, type your username and password to authenticate. If you need to purchase a DayPass, you can do so from the T-Mobile HotSpot log-in page as well.
8. When you have successfully connected, you will see the Wi-Fi Connected http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/images/tm22920/tm22920_08.gif icon in the navigation bar.
NOTE: When the Wi-Fi screen opens and displays the available Wi-Fi network, you will see tmobile listed as the available Wi-Fi network. The T-Mobile network is an open authentication network for customers who do not have existing T-Mobile Wi-Fi subscriptions.
