I have just signed up to vodafone, and their fair usage policy is limited to 500mb. This seems awfully small - so I wanted to ask what you guys (who have got a more regular usage pattern) use in a month. I'm on wi-fi at home so I can do most major stuff there, but I like to use maps, check email and just faf around when i'm out, and I don;t want to stop half way through the month...

Thanks

I have no idea where I am on the usage spectrum in comparison to others here, but according to T-Mobile I used 247.9392 Megabytes of "Internet Access" last month.

I've been using anywhere from 250 to 400MB/mo. But I use the 'net at least some every day, sometimes quite a bit and normally don't use wifi at all. Not likely I'll ever break 1G.

right now , using netsentry ( app in the marketplace ) , i have used 890mb since may 8th . i stream and go online a lot ! first month with the g1 i used 3.6gb ! good thing t-mobile usa is unlimited data :) i have had this phone since oct 20th , i average about 1.5gb to 3gb a month . that 500mb for vodafone seems extremely low . seems like it will be getting you in trouble !

500 MB is a lot of data - if you don't tune to streaming radio, download big files or something like that.

Where is the fun in that ??? 500mb is NOT a lot . I could easily use 150mb in a day . 500mb is fine , I guess , if the phone is used only to check email and access the market .

Thanks guys.

That seems to be the general concern - 500mb is fine for a previous generation smart-phone, but these current ones (iPhone, G1, G2) which are meant to be always connected seem to require somewhat more

Make sure you are around wifi constantly. I'm either at work or home 80% of the time and I keep my wifi on so I only burn up about 150 MB a month from T-Mobiles network. I'm about to be off work all summer so that may change though (especially since there will be 3G this month in Beaumont, TX).

Now if they get an XM radio streaming program I will use all the bandwidth! My phone puts out better sound through the AUX so I'm dying for the chance to kill my normal XM radio.
