UK warranty repairs

I lost SD card support with the 1.5 update and a factory reset has failed to resolve, so tmo say I have to send the handset back.

I can either live without a handset for a couple of weeks or take it to a store and they will lend me a handset.

So I went to the store and they laughed when I asked if the loan handset would support email and web browsing.

I mostly use my G1 for email and web, so this is a big issue for me, but after a few calls to tmo they aren't shifting on this. So I guess I have little choice.

Has anyone else had to suffer with a lame handset for a warranty repair? How long did the repair take?

when in the past I had to send a couple sidekicks off for repair (at different times) i didn't bother going into the store cause i knew they just give you a standard old phone, so i just sent the phone off, i think the longest i waited to get it back was 8 days though and another time was just 4 days so it's not too bad.
