Wow, looks awesome, cant wait for it to come on G1's.

I'm sure someones going to take the features and rooted phones can use the features if g1 does not get it.

I thought the auto rotate animation was interesting. Seemed to take longer than it should've though.

Love the zoom wheel. The auto-rotate animation is certainly unique and I could certainly grow to like it (I know it's an almost girly thing to say, but I don't like not having a fancy auto-rotate animation on my rooted G1), but i absolutely needs to be more snappy. Do love the zoom-wheel though. Way to think outside of the box and do something new, rather than buying in to everyone's complaints that Android doesn't precisely mimic OSX Touch. This seems like a well conceived, well implemented, highly intuitive new way of doing things (plus, I kind of envisioned a similar zoom feature, though not being much of a code-master myself, could never have implemented it :D).

I am glad they got rid of the zoom in/out magnifying glasses, they were a little buggy and kind of akward since it would get in the way when you scroll close to the bottom of the screen. I too enjoy a got auto rotation animation so that is a big plus for Android.

Hopefully cupcake will be hear next month.

I like the HTC Magic, but it seems to be lacking something...not so magical. When the guy is demonstrating the VK you can tell it seems uncomfortable, idk. Still not my cup of tea..............

Here's the cnet france review of the htc magic with a nice close up picture of the zoom circle.

http://www.cnetfrance.fr/produits/telephones-mobiles/htc-magic-39387878_2t.htm

I think the htc magic is going to be a huge seller once tmobile brings it out. Its attractive, thin, and light. This is the device thats going to give the iphone a run for its money.

I totally remember reading this idea off a forum like the first week the g1 came out.

I think this circular zoom could really shut up those people who are begging for multi-touch on their G1 but dont want to root. Honestly multi touch is cool but I am way passed the fact that android wont have have it, im just hoping that when we get the cupcake update our accelromator isnt as fargile as in the steel brower.

So single tap centers the text, double tap brings up the zoom circle. Not bad..

Google should work on a way to appeal android to the eye of the business user and so should Tmobile.
Also they need to overhaul their youtube app, make the app more like the web page experience on a desktop computer and less like were looking through a photo album.

Dont get me started on how basic the music apps UI looks, atlease make it look like you tried your hardest to please the consumer. All in all, to me it seems like the road to Andriod V3.0 is going to be harder then trying to make a full court backward three pointer while blind folded with one arm tied behind your back. iLOL.. WTF!!!!

google has never been about flashy UIs. Just look at google search, gmail, calendar, etc.

Its all about functional and that has carried over to android.

True but you cant really catch a consumers eye unless theres a little prettiness.

Was the SD card slot under the back cover? I don't think I like that... even if the back cover is easier than the G1 to take off.

Now if only Cupcake support the ability to install apps on the SD Card, I will be a happy camper.

I think its an magnifying glass. Thats what it look like to me....not a wheel. just saying...

it seems dumb to me- you gotta double tap to bring it up, and then mess around with it to zoom.

pinch zoom makes more sense

plus it sucks how the browser cant really do zooming properly in general when you have auto align on.. they need to fix that

The circular zoom looks nice. I have kept my mouth shut about multi touch so far. I have never seen it as a must have. The zoom we have does the job. It just that zooming by moving your fingers together or apart seems so neat. I think anything done with one finger versus two is more efficient.

Everyone has there list of must haves for Android. Mine is:

Calendar on the home page. Need to see the appointments coming up.
Full bluetooth support.
Apps on the sd card.

Everything else is just a bonus. It seems we are getting there slower then we would like. But with the new iPhone os and the Palm Pre, there are good things happening and Android will have to keep up.

I miss this feature from my past WM phones so I would like to see this.

As far as this, I think it does not apeal to the mass market as much because the G1 requires a little bit of a brain. Consumers want everything done for them so thats why they get an Iphone.

The Android platform is just a to advanced for anyone that lacks a brain.

Just my 2 cents.

no. the magic has already been released without this feature. it was just a demo to see how it would work out but it obviously got scratched out.

This sucks quite a bit. The idea really seemed solid and I was actually looking foward to it... Anyways I still do hope these magic builds will get something new soon. Getting kind of bored over here.

i like the zoom that the steel browser has! just long press and the zoom pops up as a half pie with different "slices" (i dont know what they are called) and the number on "slices" depends on where u held down the long press its very useable

Hey guys i was watching a video on the HTC website of the new HTC hero, on there it days u can zoom in and zoom out using two fingers just like on the iphone, is there anyway that i can get that feature on my htc magic. I heard the feature was on the G1 but was removed due to piracy and all that, since seeing it on the htc hero i am guessing that htc has now got the right to use the feature on their device. So if anyone know what how to get that on the htc magic, could you please tell me. thanks

The magic and G1 don't have multi-touch screens. it was never anything to do with patents or copyrights
