I know a lot of people have been worried about not getting a G1 on the day that it is released (for those that are not able to pre-sale). I stopped by the T-Mobile store today in the mall and they were taking names and numbers for people that were going to buy it on the release day. I'm number 18... I got kind of worried thinking they wouldn't get many in so I asked the guy if I'm wasting my time doing this. He said as of right now they are going to be getting more then 80 in on the release day, and will get more in the week after.
This is a higher volume store in a wealthy part of DFW, so they may be getting more then other stores. Knowing they will be getting this many though has gotta mean that other stores will getting a good supply as well.
I'll still be there early to get one right as they open though...;)

Does that mean we qualify for the $179.99 price if we pre-order at a store?
By the way, I'm new here, I prefer lurking forums and reading the information (much like talking; introvert)

Here is what I would suggest...go into the T-Mobile store a few days before Oct 22 and ask how many people have asked about ordering/buying the phone.
Then ask how many phones there computers say they'll be getting.
After you get those two pieces of information, you'll know if you need to line up early.
I should probably mention that T-Mobile hasn't even starting running commercials for the G1 release yet. So imagine when they begin there media blitz on TV?!
Yeah, demand will go up.....A LOT most likely. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SanDiegoDrive/Smileys/th2cents.gif
