Static in the background on call

Do you guys notice that when you are on a call and neither side is talking, you hear static noises? Very subtle but it's there. As soon as you start to talk then it goes away. As soon as both sides stop talking, it sets in again. Is that normal?

i dont know about static but i do notice sometimes when i talk to my friend who also has a g1 that sometimes he sounds like a robot and he says I do too...
i dunno i thought that was weird

i've noticed it too. i don't really think its static though, its almost like that noise you hear when you're making a call or receiving/sending a text next to a speaker.
