the new lg phone has multi touch pinch zoom according to the register, I think the g1 doesn't have it because the screen doesn't support it properly.

Wow, I'm kinda excited for Windows 7 now. I should install the beta on my computer. I'm seriously contemplating getting one of those HP TouchSmart PCs for my basement so I can allow people to select what music plays down there vs. upstairs.

It is awesome just remember to make a disk image first as it can be quirky at times and I don't recommend it on a production machine unless you have a image to go back to.
Citrix does not work, some weird error about unable to establish SSL connection
The auto email feature in WebEx does not work, launches an infinite number of internet explorer windows that ends up crashing the machine.
ATI Video cards are a pain in the arse to get them working (go figure ;P it is ATI)

I believe this is one of the many reasons Apple is starting to flex their patent muscles.

Or maybe they licensed it from Apple.

apples patent is for mobile touch screen computing devices anyway I thought. Not desktop, home operating systems.

^Not entirely true.
The JF1.41 modded RC30 supports multitouch and it works pretty well.

Actually, from what I remember, Microsoft has cart blanche with Apple's patents since they "lent" a.k.a. "bought into" Apple 150 million dollars back when they were about to go belly up. Which is probably why Apple has to chew on their lip when it comes to this.

I think that only has to do with user interface things that Microsoft "stole" from Apple (who "stole" from Xerox PARC). Apple could be going after Palm first because Palm is a much, much smaller target than Microsoft, who literally fought The Law -- and won. If Apple wins a case against Palm, they've set a precedent that can be used in a future case against Microsoft and/or other larger companies.
