I've had my G1 since it first came out, i pre ordered it the first day it went up back in september. Never had issues with it, I was really happy with the phone. I still am, the only thing I've noticed is that now the phone seems to cut in and out of conversations. It is constantly chopping up what people are saying and it's getting on my nerves. My girlfriend had to return her phone because it kept freezing, but now she has a new one and it's been working fine, I'm the one with the issues now lol

Anyone else having this problem? Im in Chicago, could it be a network issue? Doesnt make sense to me though, since my girlfriend isn't having this issue and she's in the same area as I am. any clue what I can do?

I already took out the sim card and put it back in, but I am still having the issue

I live near chicago and I keep losing my signal too. It doesn't say E or 3G. It just shows the signal stength. I can't access the browser or market at the time. Basically no signal.

I believe reception has more to do with your connection and location. I lose reception a lot sometimes.

I lose reception sometimes.
But not all the time.

I am in the suburbs of chicago.
Maybe it just has to do with the cell towers?

It's happening to me. Last night I had 3G reception in my living room and this morning I had nothing. I had it again when I got home. It's certainly intermittent and not caused by any storms. I'm less than 1km from a tower.

mine looses at least 20 times a day, and fails to reconnect or search

using ANYCUT i made a shortcut to "Search for networks" and uses that ..

I lose signals randomly as well. Since I am on the phone a lot, I get a lot of dropped called because of this signal problem. I'm in DC, surrounded by cell towers. My old Blackberry never dropped a call in 4 years in this area. I am wondering if it is because of 3G, because the phone appears to not have this problem when I force it to be on EDGE. Of course, I haven't done a "scientific" test on this theory yet.

I am having this problem as well. It just started happening a few days ago, I live in Trenton, NJ.

It just randomly looses all signal. If it toggle airplane mode on then off it works again for a few hours. I took to the t-mo store and they gave me a new sim card. But that didn't help.

I factory reset the phone. This seems to have helped witht he requency that it happens but it still happens. Just it seems to work for a 3-5 hours before needing a toggel VS before it needed one every hour.

I'm in Brooklyn NY and last week my 3G was out for some 12 hours, I called my carrier (Tmobile) and asked if there was an outage, they did a check and indeed they were fixing a tower. They didn't know how long it would take but gave me a $5 credit which I didn't even ask for. 3G came on an hour later. Give your carrier a call and ask if there is a problem, they usually will never inform you on their own but will if asked :)

Oh wow, another thing is I will lose my data connection once in a while and it will take a while for the connection to come back...

I had the same problem. After months of great reception, then two months of very bad reception and service calls, my son and I got new sim cards and the phones seem usable at the moment.

Same stuff. Got my phone recently, used it for 3 days now. It loses signal when i am in a building (though it works in the office). I come back home to my flat - no signal no reception. I take the sim out and put it to my Sony s500i - everything is working perfectly. I am sooooooo disapointed and don't know what to do :( I am in Prague (Czech republic) there are no storms no network fixing. I think the problem is with the phone
