Hi everyone, I am new and I am glad I found this forum. I am learning new things all the time.

I have a couple of quick questions. I currently have the Total Internet Add-on which includes the unlimited internet and unlimited T-Mobile Hot Spot access. I was wondering if I get the G1 and get the $25 plan, would I love the T-Mobile Hot Spot Access? I really like it and use it quite often.

Also, if for some crazy reason, I don't like the phone, is it easy to return the phone and go back to what I have currently? Is there a restocking fee? And can I return to a T-Mobile store or do I have to mail it back and pay for shipping?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about Hot Spot access with the G1's internet package, though I would guess it includes it since it seems they are simply selling us the Total Internet package combined with the 400 SMS plan. If you get it and decide not to keep it you have 10 days to return it, at which point they void out the contract renewal and return you to what you had previously, I believe. I've never done this myself so if anyone else knows differently chime in, but I think they do put your plan back to what it was.

As for returning to a store, if you're in a 3G area you can definitely return it to the store. Otherwise you may wanna call T-Mobile and ask them before buying the phone just to make sure, but even if you do have to mail it I would think they pay for shipping.

I called T-Mo to ask about plans earlier and i'm pretty sure that they said that HotSpot access will be given.

If you don't want the phone i'm sure you could just ask them to give you the G1's data plan without the phone. It sure wouldn't hurt, and T-Mo are known for having friendly customer service so it's definitely worth a shot.

I also have the Total Internet and the way it works is your on the Edge network until your in range of a WiFi signal, such as Hotspot. Now if I understand it correctly, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The G1 has 4 different ways to connect.

1. Edge network - anywhere outside the 3G network or WiFi (Hotspot).

2. 3G network - check availability where you live or work at T-mobile.com

3. 2G network - lower setting which you can manually change on the G1 to save battery usage.

4. WiFi (Hotspot) - which takes over your internet or data capabilities when your in range. Not voice thats still carried over the 3G or 2G.

I believe this is correct.

I could be wrong but i believe 2g and Edge are the same thing. and they dont have edge every where outside 3g areas its limited to highways and citys and alot fo citys dont even have edge best way to see the data coverage is to visit http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx and check the little box that shows data see where you will have internet and where you wont :D
