Aha!! Finally some clearer information regarding the specific Synaptics touchscreen in the G1... A quick search around the interwebs confirms Synaptics themselves have stated that the G1 is using the Clearpad. =D

This is good news indeed! I've been looking for such a confirmation...

Of course to actually use the multi-touch sensing capabilities that the G1's hardware may have, a custom API and likely a custom driver would (may) be required.

In other words, we're gonna have to wait until the rest of the platform besides the application layer is open sourced.


EDIT: I can't help but salivate over the thought of multi-touch G1...
