Virtual keyboard Fleksy has announced that it is partnering with an OEM for the first time ever and now they are integrated with the new Samsung Gear S. They are the exclusive third-party keyboard to the newest smartwatch from the Korean brand which runs not on the expected Android Wear but on the Tizen platform.

Fleksy, which has established itself as one of the most popular virtual keyboards in the market, will now be seen as a third-party option to the built-in keyboard of the newest smartwatch from Samsung, launched just a few days ago. It has now been pre-installed in the demo smartwatches at Samsung’s booths at the IFA 2014 in Berlin, which will begin today. The company’s plan is to have it pre-installed with the premium features available for free just for the Gear S. They have assured Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo users that Fleksy would still be available for them and that they will receive a major update soon.

While the idea of actually having a keyboard in a tiny thing such as a watch is still laughable, the Gear S is the first smartwatch to have a data connection so sending messages through it may be something users should take advantage of. The 2-inch AMOLED screen of the Gear S however, may still not be a very comfortable proposition when typing, especially for those who have chubby fingers. Fleksy however is known for having not just a beautiful design, but also for the users’ fast typing experience and they might have a more non-cumbersome virtual keyboard for the Gear S.

If you already have the previous Samsung Gear smartwatches, you can try out Fleksy on your device by downloading it through the GearStore. Fleksy is also available for other Android devices and may be downloaded for free through the Google Play Store, with a premium version available for $3.99.
