With photo editing and filtering apps a dime a dozen, you need something different and special to stand out from the crowd. Overam seems to have achieved that by offering its users something unique. Instead of the usual vintage, sepia, hipster filters that you can apply to your photos to make them somewhat cooler, with this app you get to use geometrical shapes to enhance your mobile pictures. “Where geometry directs photography,” is apparently their philosophy.

The app offers you over 200 geometric shapes that you can use to alter the composition of your photos. You can isolate or highlight certain parts of your photo with the shape that you think would fit best with the effect you’re trying to achieve. To add even more of the cool factor, there are also 5 blur options available, including 3 more advanced ones like Motion, Radial, and Zoom. You can even adjust these blurs the way you want or need them because it has the editing bars. And if you still feel that your photo needs a filter, then there are over 20 to choose from, depending on what mood you want to achieve.

One other feature that makes this app stand out is the “live real time camera” which allows you to see the effects you want even before you take the picture. Almost all of the editing features, particularly the ones referring to the geometrical shape, can be seen and applied, without any rendering or post processing. Then when you’re satisfied, you can take the picture.

You can download Overam from the Google Play Store completely free, with no in-app purchases. Your smartphone needs to be running Android 4.0 or higher to be able to use this app, which is currently at version 1.0.3.
