Monument Valley is one of the more critically acclaimed games of the last year or so, and so developers are scrambling to become the next one. One that doesn’t shy away from the influence the game has had on it is Evo Explores, and if you’re into the geometric puzzle games, then you will probably enjoy this one as well. You get to play around with impossibly surreal structures, get through confusing optical illusions and of course solve the seemingly impossible puzzles.

What you need to do in this game is to guide the main character, Evo, a space explorer as he tries to discover the secrets of a mysterious planet called Byte where regular physical laws don’t seem to work. The puzzles that you need to solve seem like disconnected 3D structures but you need to manipulate them in order to give Evo a clear path to the exit. Of course it would be hard to describe what kind of puzzles and structures are in there, except to say that they’re weird, challenging, and a joy to work out, if you are not frustrated with difficult puzzles of course.

There are points in the game when Evo will actually morph into a duplicate and so now you have to clear two paths for both of them. Learning how to manipulate the structures may take some time getting used to, but once you get the hang of rotating, swinging, switching, raising columns, etc, it will be a bit easier to maneuver around the geometric universe.

You can download Evo Explores from the Google Play Store for just $0.99. There are no in-app purchases, so you can just concentrate on getting Evo out of there.

Pretty sure monument-valley also didn’t have it in the beginning.

    • Monument Valley still doesn’t have IAPs. It has DLC. It may seem pedantic to draw a distinction, but the nature of the content, not to mention that it is one-time and permanent, is significant.
