Offered through Android 1.5 is a home screen framework for developing widgets. With this, options are available to populate live folders with as much content as you please. Unofficial news is whether 1.5 will come to existing Android handsets in the field.

There is limited information listed in the change log that would prevent current hardware from taking full advantage from the new version. The OHA will be available noting how to prepare application for the release of Android 1.5 on phones.

  1. This makes me drool, can't wait for this OS update to be released, especially since apple has announced 3.0
  2. So it is finally FINALLY official... God I've been waiting forever... I almost rooted because I couldn't take it anymore especially with the port from the HTC Magic available, I wanted to just go through that route. Hopefully we can get it by the end of this month!
  3. My uncle is a tester for Qualcomm and he actually has the original T-Mobile Htc Sapphire. I was playing with it the other day and the features are amazing. It auto-rotates in any application you want and the virtual keyboard is pretty much the same as the iphone, BUT BETTER. The video playing is cool too but I could not put my sim in it because it was a testing phone. Playing with it is amazing and I hope that the Android 1.5 comes to our phones too, not only sapphire!!!!!
  4. Last on the net to get this story AGAIN! Tisk Tisk

Oh jesus not this craziness again.
  8. Actually, 1.5 is currently available via an awesome hacker/dev that goes by Haykuro. He has hacked both the Google build and the HTC build of Android for the HTC Sapphire/Vodafone Magic. It's out there and available for all of us lucky rooters!
  9. And yes, it works perfectly fine on the G1.

More unbased fear mongering. Where is this evidence? What stuff? Its already been shown through the hack currently out it will work on the g1. Seriously this kind of reporting is complete crap.
  12. Ughh I can't get the emulator to run.... oh well
  13. i got the emulator to work but had to do a few things in terminal

cd to the tools directory and type "./android create avd --target 2 --name CupcakeVM01"

then type "./emulator -avd CupcakeVM01" to run the emulator.

on windows just take out ./ and it will work.

the emulator takes about 15 minutes to start up and when it does still runs painfully slow.

Wait do you type those commands directly into cmd? or do you do something else in the cmd first? Because its not working (sorry I'm not too good with code just intrested in the emulator)
  15. why has this site only found one news story in the last 14 days. did everyone quit?
  16. I've been running Android 1.5 for about 3 weeks now. The currently Haykuro release is perfectly stable. For all of your that haven't rooted their phones yet, what are you waiting for?!? It takes 20 minutes and is about as simple as it gets...
  17. This might be dumb-dumb logic, but I feel like if I use these leaked builds, it'll take away the excitement of when T-Mobile and Google release it officially. Yes, yes, I know, dumb-dumb logic.
  18. So those of you with rooted phones that already have a 1.5 build -- does the video recording work on the G1.
  19. bdb4269 --yes it works fine, I have tested both the HTC and the Google builds of the Haykuro releases and video recording is fine. It is one of the main reasons I wanted to root my G1.

The HTC build has some big differences from the Google one, and after playing with both, I really like the Google one better as far as stability of the phone goes, and the speed of the video recorder, its almost instant. The HTC build is a little slower but it has extra features that the google one doesnt have.. so I guess its a matter of preference.

Currently the only major downside to the Google build is you cannot download from the Market.. (may be fixed soon)

Theres alot more to it though so if your curious just PM me.
  20. i already have cupcake its amazing rooted g1 tethered apps on sd firrmware 1.5 multitouch
