Last week, we told you that Verizon was gearing up to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Motorola DROID 4. That much was reiterated today, as Verizon let loose a change log full of updates and new features DROID 4 users can expect when the upgrade arrives. It seems it won’t be long now before DROID 4 users on Verizon get their hands on Ice Cream Sandwich.

At the moment, it appears that Verizon is rolling out the update to those who are participating in the soak test. Barring unforeseen circumstances during that test, this suggests that all DROID 4 users will be getting the update shortly. One of the biggest updates this Android 4.0.4 upgrade brings with it is global roaming – after the update hits, all DROID 4 devices will have global roaming capabilities, which will allow you to access Verizon’s network in 205 countries.

Also included in this update is support for Verizon remote diagnostics. With the permission of the user, this will allow Verizon customer support representatives to remotely view the device, for the purposes of “device training, application demonstrations and troubleshooting.” It should be a handy service to have at hand, as long as you can get comfortable with the idea of Verizon watching everything you do on your DROID 4 (we kid).

Of course, there are other, smaller updates aside from the two detailed above, so click the thumbnail below to see the full change log for DROID 4’s incoming update to Ice Cream Sandwich.. Again, we still don’t have an exact date for when Verizon is planning to roll this update out to all users, but it’s going to be soon. Keep an ear to Android Community for more details!

  1. I hate the ice cream sandwich update. I want my old keyboard back. My phone freezes and it never used to. I can’t hide the apps I don’t use. It was fine before – if it ain’t broke . . .

  2. I still haven’t got it on mine… 🙁 I’ve restarted the phone, checked manually, blah blah.. still nothing. Maybe it’s just because I live in Upper Michigan. Where is everyone else getting updates?

  3. Yeah. This update sucks ass. It makes my phone freeze for 20 minutes and I have to turn it off and back on again to use it. Can’t do any task right after another. Like look at my pics then play music. It blows. I want the old one back. And no it’s not just my phone.

  4. Sooo unhappy! I cant read the new and improved colors (Im color blind and they made the words grey with a black background so its all jumbled) on the text messages…my battery lasts half the time…and now i have that stupis vibrate thing when i unlock the phone (which is also different). i went into the store and told them i want a new phone b/c i only got mine a month ago…its totally different and it sucks, but they said every phone switched to the new software. OBVIOUSLY they are big liars!!!! I am VERY upset since I had to reboot my phone 3 times today alone. DO NOT SWITCH if you havent already. Called Motorolla after talking to verizon…and they said there is no way to switch back. VERY MAD!!!

    • Can’t they get you a different phone altogether? Sorry about the colorblind thing. I’m not colourblind but I too find this stupid update difficult to see. What idiot uses a grey background?

  5. Is there truly no way to undo this? I delayed for a whole week before I got sick of the reminders. And I detest this update. I loved my phone before this. Had it set up just the way I liked. Rarely had to reboot. Didn’t freeze. It was just a more practical setup. What was the big deal with this update? They couldn’t add what they promised without completely revamping my phone? Seriously, if I wanted a new phone, I would buy it. God, if someone did this to all of our computers the world would have gone ballistic. Has anyone figured out how to remove photo uploaded notifications without rebooting?

  6. I am sooooo unhappy with the new Ice Cream Sandwich update. Although I was still learning how to do things BEFORE the update, I am now having to relearn how to do things I used to know. The closest store is over one hour away, so it’s not easy to drop everything and go to the store when they say “Bring it to the store for help”. And the people at Tech Support are not always very helpful. I spoke with three different people today, and Jonathan said that he would need to have permission from the account holder (my son) before he could answer my questions about the update. I sure wish there was a way to get back to the old system. Heaven knows how many more things I will have to relearn.

  7. Sucks for me too. Seem to have lost connectivity and have alot of call drops….did a factory reset, but now it won’t take my email settings…..verizon said they would give me a new/refurbished phone, but I liked my droid 4 before ICS

  8. What the Hell has Verizon and Motorola done! My phone is completely messed up now. I lost e-mail accounts, my backgrounds are all in black, icons that I had on my screen are now gone and I have to go to settings to retreve them, scrolling used to be very, very smooth and now it’s like pages are scrolling through mud. This is my 6th phone in sixteen month and I was finally happy with what I had until these IDIOTS decided to do this update. It’s just like Verizon updated my phone with a VIRUS. Everything has changed for the worst. I WANT TO BE DONE WITH VERIZON AS WELL AS MOTOROLA!!! If Verizon cared about it’s customers they would make Motorola fix this NOW!!! EVERYONE is EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with this update but Verizon and Motorola have no intentions of fixing the problem or satisfying it’s customer base.

  9. Plwase someone pleaseeeeee tell me how to get rid of this. I’ve been searching on the internet all day on how to uninstall it. I HATE IT. My battery dies super quick, I can’t see a damn thing when I’m trying to type, and it’s just ugly. If there really is no way to fix this, I am getting a new phone. This is by far the worst update ever.

  10. i hate this. i used to like my phone, now it sucks! took my phone off the charger this morning.. and it lasted a whole 2 hours before it died again.. seriously that can’t be ok, my phone didn’t do that before. and now it freezes up and drops call left and right. and when i open my text messages i seriously can’t tell at all which are read and which are not… and im NOT color blind . don’t give us updates unless all bugs are fixed ! this is horrible. don’t want this!

  11. I see all of this has happened two months ago. Well, I’m behind and my phone updated last week. I agree with all of you. I didn’t and still don’t have enough curse words to spew every time I need to use my phone. I’m hoping that someone out there with the savvy to fix this is listening, because right now, I’d pay a couple of bucks to put my phone back the way it used to be. This upgrade smacks of an apple wanna be. If I wanted an iphone, I would have bought one in the first place
