DoCoMo has launched a brand new phone that is the first to feature Sharp’s new IGZO screen. This new phone, called the AQUOS PHONE SH-02E ZETA, brings economic benefits as well as a brighter screen for outdoor use. Besides being the first to feature this brand new screen, this phone looks like a monster overall in terms of specs, but we will get to that later.

What makes this new screen so special? It uses indium gallium zinc oxide instead of amorphous silicon in the LCD. This is about 40x more efficient for electron mobility. This allows pixels to be smaller, which in turn means that they do not need as much backlighting. In fact, they require about a third less than most other screens. This means the phone is capable of using less energy or having an overall brighter display, depending on the situation.

So what else does this phone offer? To start with, it has an impressive 16.3-megapixel camera on the back and 1.2-megapixel camera on the front. It also has a 1.5GHz quadcore APQ8064 processor. For connectivity, the device has Wi-Fi, NFC, and LTE. It has a 2,320 mAh battery to keep every alive and kicking.

It looks like this device is going to hit the market in Japan in November or December of this year. No word has been given if there is any plan to release the device outside of the Japan at this point. I hope it does, because this phone looks like an absolute monster, and I want to see this new screen first-hand.
