If you are an Android packing DISH Network subscriber, you will want to go grab this new app called TV Anywhere. The new app allows the user to watch live TV and recorded DVR programs on your Android smartphone.

The only catch is that you need a Sling equipped DVR to take adv advantage of the new service. The app works on any Android device, but prefers those with larger 4.3-inch screens. If you are a DISH customer that doesn’t have the Sling accessory, you will need to buy it.

The Sling accessory for the DISH DVR is $99. The palceshifting device works with the ViP 722 and 722k DVRs. The app for Android users is free and allows the smartphone to be used as a remote control. Shows can be streamed over WiFi or 3G connections.

  1. HI my name is nate I work with DISH Network the dish remote access is very cool and enjoyable on road trips also in the convience of your office

  2. So does the app work only with the 722 receivers or will the sling thing work with other receivers? The info on the web is confusing. Could I at least watch my recorded shows from my 622?

  3. This Android App seems to cap the download bandwidth at about 1100Kbps.    PC viewing from the web browser on the same network is able to playback at 9000Kbps HD.
