Buying and reading digital comics has become an accepted way of consuming this kind of reading material, even for the hardcore comic book readers who may not have accepted this a few years back. But just like the actual, physical comics, it does require a bit of a financial investment. But what if you could actually just pay a certain amount every month then get a buffet of comic books, much like what services like Netflix and Spotify have been doing? Well the answer to that would be a new service called comiXology Unlimited.

comiXology has actually been around for some time now, but more as a digital comic bookstore and a comic book reader for your mobile devices. But now this new service they’re offering gives you “endless access” to titles from selected publishers including Image Comics,Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Oni Press, Archie Comics, Valiant Entertainment, Fantagraphics Books. Among all those publishers, there are more than a thousand comic book issues, graphic novels, and manga titles that you can devour every day for as long as you’re subscribed.

Once you’ve subscribed to the service, you can access all the titles you want to read in both the web version and the mobile app on your smartphone or tablet. And in case you’re afraid that you might drown in all those titles (Buffy! Saga! Hellboy! The Walking Dead! Archie!), comiXology will also give you some recommendation tools so you can sort through all your options. Your regularly bought comic titles will still be there on your account and you can just filter to see which are part of the Unlimited service.

The good news is that comiXology Unlimited will lonely cost you $5.99 a month. The bad news is that for now, it is only available in the US. But they will also be rolling it out to other countries soon. If you’re still not sure if you’d want to have it, you can have a 30-day free trial.

  1. Forgot to mention. 1. Marvel and DC are not included. And 2. The selection is purposely limited so you’ll buy more. There is usually only 1 or 2 volumes of any given series. It’s not like Netflix, it’s more like a demo.
