Live streaming now is not just about binge-watching on Netflix or Hulu. With the advent of such apps like Periscope and Meerkat, Facebook’s foray into Live sessions for celebrities, and even gamers streaming their gameplay, users want the ability to share their most important moments with people who matter, and they want to do it live. Comcast a few months ago launched their own live streaming service to limited users, but now, all Xfinity subscribers will be able to use the service and app as well.

Xfinity Share was actually the first live streaming app that could directly stream to your TV. That is, if you and the sender/receiver are both Comcast Xfinity Triple Play customers and if you both have X1 DVR capable set-top boxes. But now, all Xfinity customers, whether you are subscribed to video, Internet, voice, or home will have the ability to stream content from their device to a TV. They can also now receive pictures, videos, and live streams on to their mobile device through the app.

You would still need to have the X1 DVR capable set-top boxes to receive the content on your TV though. But if you do, that means you can watch your loved ones’ streams of their wedding, party, first baseball game of a 6-year-old, or any other special moments they want to share with you (and that you want to share to them).

Streaming to the TV is pretty easy. Just open your Xfinity Share app, choose Stream Live, then Stream to other contacts. You just need to enter the home phone number or the comcast.net email address of the person or persons you want to share with. The recipient will receive a notification and then they click the Info button on the X1 TV remote, and voila, they will now be able to watch the live stream on their TV.
