When I first heard that Dell was bringing smartphones out and then heard the rumor that it was unable to find a carrier in the U.S. for the devices, I wondered why. I figured that the reason was that the Dell smartphone had nothing compelling in its feature set.

It appears that assumption was correct. After week of blurry leaked images, the Dell Mini 3i handset has officially debuted in China. All I can say is that the device is a turd and I see why no one wanted it here in the States.

It’s a 2G only phone with no Wi-Fi and a 3.2MP camera with LED flash. Other features include Bluetooth, a 3.5-inch 360 x 640 touch screen and a microSD card slot. The device runs Android and has a smallish 950mAh battery. There is no word on pricing at this time.

  1. Meanwhile screen is bigger and higher resolution than any of the Dream, Magic or Hero devices and camera with LED flash. Looks like a nifty device for the crowd that wans a phone +extra.
  2. 950 bat? Yeah that is not gonna last long lol.

I think without 3G or WiFi, it'll last longer than my G1 with 1150 mah battery :S
  4. I'm an early adopter with the G1. My next android phone must have more than sufficient storage, better display capabilities and a better chipset. I don't like the G1 design. It's clunky and buttons are all over the phone. I hope that if the Dell wants to be a major player in the mobile market, they need to come up with a beefy device that uses the Android platform to the fullest of its capabilities.

I think the Hero looks like a great device, it just falls short in some categories in my opinion. We'll see. Not in any rush to get a new device until other hardware vendors start releasing their phones.

thats the dumbest thing I ever heard. Might was well not get the phone if your gunna turn 3G and wifi off
  7. Wow, pretty much a carbon copy of their Tablet PC release.

Glad my wife took the severance, Creative thinking @ Dell ist Kaput...
