Boost Mobile has announced the immediate availability of the MAX phablet from ZTE. The handset is simply dubbed the Boost MAX and will bring a 5.7-inch HD IPS display. Boost Mobile is playing up the size of the display here, tempting folks with a bit about how the large screen size of the MAX “brings the best of a smartphone and tablet together.”

Along with the size of the display, those considering a purchase can also expect some protection by way of Corning Gorilla Glass. Otherwise, the handset will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor which is then paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The Boost MAX measures in at 6.5 (H) x 3.25 (W) x 0.4 (D) inches and weighs in at 6.87 ounces.

Remaining specs include a 3200 mAh battery, 1 megapixel front-facing camera, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and Dolby Digital Plus sound. The handset also has support for the Boost Mobile 4G LTE network and will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. There will also be some software tweaks that take advantage of the larger display. In this case that means goodies such as the Smart Viewer, which means running two apps side by side.

Boost Mobile will have the MAX priced at $299.99. And as we always mention when it comes to Boost Mobile — that is a contract-free price. The handset can be paired with the Boost Mobile $55 Monthly Unlimited plan, which also comes with Shrinking Payments. Basically, that means the monthly price will drop by $5 for every six on-time payments with an eventual drop to $40. For reference, this plan includes unlimited talk, text and web with the first 2.5GB of data being at high-speed.
