BLU Products has unveiled their latest smartphone. The handset will be joining the VIVO line of devices and is dubbed the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD. As suggested by the name, this one brings a 4.8-inch HD display, but aside from the display size, BLU Products is pushing this one as being the “thinnest device in the market to utilize a 4.8 inch or larger AMOLED display.”

While that is a fairly specific claim, the bottom line here is the VIVO 4.8 HD measures in at 6.9mm thick. Other details on the display include it being Super AMOLED, scratch resistant and with a resolution of 1280 x 720. The handset will have HSPA+ 42 Mbps connectivity on the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. There will also be GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity from the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands. The VIVO 4.8 HD will have a single micro SIM card slot.

The handset will be powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589T Cortex-A7 processor with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space. Also worth noting, the VIVO 4.8 HD does not have any memory card slot available. Remaining specs include a 2000 mAh battery, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with BSI sensor, auto-focus, LED flash and 1080p video recording.

BLU Products will be launching the VIVO 4.8 HD with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and in a variety of colors. The color lineup includes matte black, ceramic white, electric neon yellow and glimmer pink. While no specific promises were made, BLU Products did mention that “future software updates will be available through BLU’s over-the-air Wireless Update Feature.”

Aside from the 6.9mm thickness, the remaining measurements include 137 x 70mm, with a weight of 135 grams. All that having been said, the VIVO 4.8 HD will be available for those in the US and Latin America. The handset is priced at a contract-free $249.

  1. It’s interesting how BLU is enhancing the specs of its latest models. A quad-core 1.5GHz processor was never seen in this brand. Also, the screen quality and slimness of this handset are pretty cool! Hope they can update the firmware in their following models!

    • Less than 10% of their phones ever see an update, and if they do it will only be one. And their systems are so flaky none of the developers will work on custom roms for them.

  2. They make false promises. They do not update or support their products. They promised updates to the Life series a year ago, still no update.
