BLU has announced the availability of its Blu Dash 4.5 handset, which is being offered unlocked as a budget handset for $139 USD. Despite the price, the device packs decent specs, including a MediaTek MT6589M 1.2GHz quad-core processor and support for 4G LTE networks. The Blu Dash is being sold online through “several” retailers in the US.

In additon to the MediaTek processor, the 512MB of RAM, as well as 4GB of internal storage space and the ability to expand that up to 32GB via microSD card slot. The display is a 4.5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen offering (hence the name) with a resolution of 480 x 854. Powering it all is a 2000mAh battery, which is a decent capacity for the hardware.

As far as connectivity goes, there’s both GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and HSPA+ 21Mbps 850/1900. In addition, users will get 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, a feature for creating a hotspot, and a microUSB port. There’s also the expected gyro and proximity sensor and accelerometer.

And then there’s the camera, which is a 5-megapixel offering on the back with autofocus and an LED flash. There’s also a front camera, which has VGA resolution. The rear camera is capable of video recording in up to 720p at 30 frames-per-second. As far as the camera software goes, BLU states there’s an HDR feature included for high-dynamic (or perhaps tonemapped) images.

The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and features dual-SIM, dual-Active functionality, which allows users to utilize calls and data on both at the same time. The entire unit weighs 147 grams, and measures in at 133.5 x 67 x 11.9 mm. The reported battery life is “several days,” but BLU doesn’t specify under what conditions such numbers are achieved.
