Hearthstone is still arguably the top collectible card battle game for mobile platforms and it looks like Blizzard will do everything it can to keep it there. The developer now wants to keep the gameplay and content fresh with another expansion set called “Whispers of the Old Gods” which will be launched late April or early May. For players of Hearthstone, this just means new cards to take into your deck.

The last expansion had a celebratory tone – The Grand Tournament celebrated days of peace in Azeroth, hence the cards and the new gaming area visuals were all a bit happy in tone. Whispers of the Old Gods takes a more sinister approach, and we wonder what it could bring to the whole Azeroth storyline. Still, Hearthstone players can expect exciting new cards from this expansion set.

The full expansion deck has not been revealed yet, but what has been show adds more complexity and power to your deck. For instance, the old god C’Thun is a 10-point, 6-attack/6-health card that initially deals 6-attack points spread among all enemy minions the moment it is placed on the field of battle. A support card, the Beckoner of Evil adds additional 2 attack and health points to your C’Thun card wherever it is upon taking the battlefield.

All in all, there are 134 cards in this expansion, and they bring unique new styles and strategies to your gameplay. Starting tomorrow, you will be able to pre-purchase a 50-card bundle for USD$49.99 – usable of course when the expansion launches, and with a menacing card back design as a freebie for pre-purchasers.
