Some people were pretty excited when Blackberry announced that they will be finally launching their first smartphone that will run on the Android platform. And when they found out what the Blackberry PRIV specs were and the early reviews as well, people got more excited. However, it only became available in the US and Canada and selected European countries. But now, it’s expanding its reach once again as the smartphone is now available in India.

In case you needed a reminder as to why the Blackberry PRIV seems awesome (at least, on paper), it has a 5.4-inch QHD Amoled display with 1440×5260 pixels. And if you’re wearing gloves, it has a mode where you can still interact with your screen even while your gloves are on. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor (1.8GHz dual-core Cortex-A57, and 1.44GHz quad-core Cortex-A53) so that’s pretty powerful stuff.

It has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage and if that’s not enough, it has a microSD card slot to expand your storage up to 2TB (if that’s still not enough, just use a computer or something). The PRIV also has the following sensors: accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, time of flight (ToF) sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, altimeter, and activity monitor. One feature that some are looking forward to is the physical keyboard which was a huge draw for Blackberry back in the day.

So if you live in India, you will now be able to get your Blackberry PRIV for 62,900 INR (that’s around $923) starting January 30. Let’s see how this high-end device will fare in a market that is more drawn to mid-range and low-end smartphones.
