There are around 100 million people (or devices) that have apparently downloaded the BitTorrent and uTorrent mobile apps, and the developers couldn’t be happier with this milestone, which has more than doubled since their last announced landmark which was 40 million back in November 2013. And as a treat for mobile users, they have released version 3, bringing improvements to its core, as well as providing a built-in music and video player to make it easier to play your downloads.

While you probably have your preferred players to access your various media files, there is something convenient about having it integrated into the app from which you’ve downloaded the file from. Apparently it’s one of the most requested features from users and version 3.0 has finally brought it to BitTorrent. The UI is pretty nice, with a play queue so you can see what will be playing next. It also displays the cover art of the song or album and you just need to swipe left from your BitTorrent page to access it.

While this is a visual improvement, the more important announcement is that they have improved the torrent core. This means that the app and your downloads are now more stable and should be faster (dependent on your data or WiFi connection of course). Using the app should also be “smoother, faster, more beautiful”.

BitTorrent has six different mobile offerings, but the (unofficial) largest platform, which is probably because it is the only one where they offer full-fledged clients (meaning no computer is required). The update to BitTorrent for Android is now available on your device. If you don’t have it yet and want to make their numbers go higher, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
