If you and your friends like boasting to each other about how many steps you’ve taken today, theres’s no need anymore to look at each other’s phone or fitness band. The latest update to Samsung’s S-Health now lets you add friends or people in your age group so you can see how you’re doing in terms of step counts. It also brings consolidated information about your steps, lets you export important data, and measure your heart rate if your phone has a sensor.

It might seem strange to be competitive on how many steps you’re taking, but if you and your friends or colleagues are training for a major run or losing weight or just want to have a bet as to who walks the longest, then having this feature will be helpful for you. But probably the more useful new feature in this update is that S-Health can now combine and show your steps recorded by your phone, your wearable devices like fitness bands or smartwatches, and other third-party apps you’re using to monitor your activities.

If you store your blood glucose, blood pressure, and heart rate information on your S-Health app, you will now be able to export it as HTML, PDF, and XLS files, in case you need it for medical purposes or just for your file keeping impulses. And if your Android smartphone has a fingerprint sensor, you can now quickly measure and record your hear rate by placing your finger on the sensor and turning it over.

The update also comes with the usual bug fixes and improvements. And that last feature we mentioned, the Quick Measure, you need to activate it in your app. You can now update your S-Health app to enjoy all these features.

  1. Can anyone help me find a community of people using the S Health app? I am trying to motivate myself into walking a lot more. However, it no fun not being able to compare to anyone. All of my friends or family are lazy and i want to get myself healthy once again. If you use app, and wouldn’t mind me becoming your friend, it would be appreciated as well.
