Yesterday, we heard that Verizon has plans to launch 4G LTE in a bunch of new markets across the country on November 15. Before it can do that, however, AT&T is rolling out its own 4G LTE service in a selection of new areas. Today the company announced that it has turned on 4G LTE in 7 different areas around the country, enhancing already-existing 4G LTE in other areas as well.

That makes AT&T’s list of new areas a bit shorter than the list of locations that will be getting Verizon’s 4G LTE tomorrow, but no matter – AT&T is hitting some major areas with this particular roll out. Have a look at the list below to see if your area is one of the places getting AT&T 4G LTE today:

• Daytona Beach, Florida
• Denver, Colorado
• York, Pennsylvania
• Tacoma, Washington
• Louisville, Kentucky
• Milwaukee, Wisconsin
• Provo-Orem, Utah

In addition to those areas listed above, AT&T says that it has also expanded 4G LTE service in the Greater Seattle Area and Anne Arundel County in Annapolis, Maryland. AT&T says it’s turning service on today in all of the areas listed too, so AT&T customers in those markets should have 4G LTE service either now or shortly. All in all, not too bad a day for AT&T customers craving some 4G LTE speeds.

Of course, AT&T has some work to do if it wants to catch up with Verizon, but like its biggest competitor, AT&T has been rolling out its 4G LTE network pretty quickly. We’ll undoubtedly be hearing more news about AT&T’s 4G LTE roll out shortly, so keep it tuned here to Android Community for more. Are you in one of the areas that’s getting AT&T 4G LTE service today?

  1. I live in Salt Lake City, just an hour or so away from the Provo/Orem area. It’s surprising to see AT&T not get LTE up here (where there are a million more people) before the smaller suburb areas.

Not complaining (as it will obviously be up in the city sooner than later), just interesting to note their roll out strategy.
