Samsung announced the US availability of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 smartphone earlier this morning and it looks like the first of the three carriers have announced some specifics. That carrier is AT&T and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be available beginning on August 23rd. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be available on a two-year agreement or under the AT&T Next program.

The two-year agreement price will be $149.99 and the Next program pricing will be $24 per month. The two-year price obviously ties you in to a multi-year commitment, however those choosing the Next route will be able to upgrade after 12 months time. Next brings no downpayment and no upgrade or activation fees.

Basically, with Next you just pick the phone (get service) and begin making those monthly payments. And while you can upgrade after making 12 payments, those sticking with the same device will have it paid off after 20 payments. One item worth mentioning with Next, if you upgrade after 12 payments you will need to trade your current device towards the price of the new device.

Similar to what we saw with Samsung, AT&T is also pushing the Galaxy Mega 6.3 as a tablet-like experience.

The 6.3-inch device is the ideal hybrid handset if you want to experience smartphone portability with the immersive experience of a tablet.

Otherwise, the Galaxy Mega will bring specs to include a 6.3-inch (1280 x 720) display, dual-core 1.7GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 3200 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera. The handset will be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and arriving with support for the AT&T LTE network.
