The wait for the Android Marshmallow update is still on. If you own a relatively new ASUS device, the OEM has revealed the timetable for the selected devices that will receive the update. There is still no exact date but they are estimating that Android 6.0 will arrive to the smartphones by the 2nd quarter of 2016 so that means in the next 3 months or so. A lot of devices are still waiting for the update months after the final build was released to the Nexus devices.

The smartphones that will receive the updates include the following: ASUS PadFone S, the ZenFone 2, the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition, the ZenFone 2 Laser, the ZenFone Selfie, the ZenFone Max, and the ZenFone Zoom. So far, these are the only devices that will be receiving the Marshmallow update, but no word yet if they are other devices that will be added later on.

They also announced what are the changes that will come with the update. The biggest change would be that Google Messenger, Calendar and Gmail apps will automatically be included when you update, if you didn’t have them yet on your device previously. And if you restore your smartphone to factory settings after you’ve updated, then they will be the new default apps of the ZenUI, replacing ASUS Messenger, ASUS Calendar, and ASUS Mail.

But if you still want to use those three apps, you can still download them from the Google Play Store. The specific models of the ASUS smartphones that will be receiving the Marshmallow update are as follows:

– PadFone S (PF500KL)
– ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
– ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
– ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
– ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
– ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)
