The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has showed up on Target’s website, at the low low price of $399. This is the 10.1″ tablet with 16GB hard drive, and 1GB memory. This market-defeating price is lower than the competition and the product is just as good as the competition – at least that’s what they’re hoping you’ll think! This slate has been causing quite a stir, what with running Honeycomb, sporting a dual core, and having a great build quality – having the Asus A500 on hand right this moment we can say right now that a more fashionable cousin would be right up our alley, and the Transformer fits that bill like no other. Target, here we come!

As of this writing, the price is no longer showing up on the product page, located here. The site simply states that the tablet is out of stock. All this means is that the Transformer will soon be in stock, but that you cannot purchase it right this moment, no matter how hard you try.

Our main European Chris Davies is sure to see this sassy monster before anyone here gets a tap – and he’ll be shooting that monstrous review out soon, if I’m not mistaken. Grab hold of this beast double-clawed before you’re left out in the cold, before it even launches! Keep your eyes peeled and your nose ground out to Android Community for more tips on when the Transformer will be available everywhere!

BONUS as our good pal Artem over at Android Police lets us know, there’s a super secret $40 off coupon out there right now by the name of TCA27BAR. If you enter this in whilst checking out, poof! Fourty dollars back in your pocket. But there’s a catch – Target’s supply of Transformers is backordered 2 to 4 weeks. That’s if you use the coupon or not. The same goes for Amazon whose supply is again, powered by Target. Thusly, this is probably going to be your best bet in the states. Got a better one? Send it in!

  1. Huh? There’s so many things wrong with this article that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Did the author do ANY research on this product whatsoever?

  2. Does this writer live under a rock? How the hell do you write for an android only site and not know the $399 price is for the wifi only transformer?? My respect for this site just went down several levels.

  3. $400, no contract required, wifi, Android 3.0 tablet. The ASUS Transformer is a great tablet for a great price with a beautiful IPS display. Love this thing. Kinda hard to find right now. Hopefully it coming to Target means more inventory will be arriving in the US soon.

  4. I’m confused… $399.99 is not a low low price… Also, with tax (and probably shipping) this would still cost more than other online retailers like Amazon. (If they were in stock anywhere.)

      • You mean about the $40 off? Yeah… But with tax and shipping, you are not really saving anything. I agree that it is still cheaper than buying it at a brick and mortar store, but not the cheapest online. Amazon is $400 otd (When available).

I’m confused because the first line of the post says:

“The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has showed up on Target’s website, at the low low price of $399.”

That is the same as everywhere.

        Did I miss something else?

( BTW I still got nothin’ but love for AC.com )

  5. i preordered from b&h photo…they project may31st. They didnt have a coupon though they had the best customer service chat i have ever used! buy from the smaller companies…they usually are trying extra hard to satisfy customers with exceptional customer service because it is more difficult to compete with the price breaks of these larger companies. im willing to bet that the most shipments will be going out closer to the 4 week mark….2 to 4 weeks sounds better than up to 4 weeks. again go b&h photo they picked a date late (may31st) and if it comes sooner then their customers will appreciate a heck of alot more than getting jerked around for weeks 3 and 4

    • yes they did, I ordered online for store pickup, but it was sold out before my order was processed.

infact they had only 2 in stock.

  6. lol…target deal is aold out, They prob had too many pre-orders. That was a great deal cause other sites even if u don’t pay tax, it’s still cost more with the shipment. U’ll will not going to see a deal like that in awhile.

  7. I just ordered one from American TV (i called my local store) and I am supposed to pick it up on Thursday. They said it was being shipped from a warehouse in St Louis where there was only 1. Crossing fingers that it comes as planned.

  8. I placed an order yesterday, including the $40 off coupon code.

Today Target sent an email cancelling the order, as the “item is not currently available from any of our sources”.

Bummer; I was will to wait to lock in the price, now I guess I’ll find another vendor. At 10k units a month, these things will be hard to come by for a while…

  9. I ordered one of these this weekend. Target just sent me a “not in stock, cancelling the order” email.
Was this some kind of scam?

  10. With bated breath, I eagerly await a review of ASUS’ Eee Transformer Pad, and better yet its arrival on retail shelves here in Canada. I appreciate your jargon-free writing style.
