Asurion is the handset protection and insurance offered by most smartphone providers like Verizon and T-Mobile, when your phone gets lost or broke they replace it and you only pay a deductible (if you have insurance of course). For high priced smartphones the deductible is around $130 to get your lovely android phone replaced. It looks like they are replacing users of the Droid X with the new and faster Droid X2, that is a nice upgrade if I don’t say so myself.

This is not the first time this has happened, extremely popular phones tend to sometimes run out of stock and apparently that is just what has happened. Asurion is out of the Droid X and users seeking a replacement for lost, stolen, or broken phones are being offered the Motorola Droid X2 as the replacement according to our friends over at Droid-Life. You can check out our review of the Droid X2 here.

What makes this special is the Droid X2 features a dual-core 1 Ghz processor and an upgraded qHD 540×960 high-resolution display. So users are getting a pretty substantial upgrade for the replacement from Asurion. I’d never recommend that you drop or lose your phone just for a warranty replacement as that is a bad idea and cheating the system, but if you are in the need for an upgrade on that Droid X now would make for an excellent time to do just that.
